B1-X was a droid created towards the end of the Clone Wars as an experimental robotic solider to replace the quirky and unreliable B1 series of droids which saw great proliferation during the combat. At the start, B1-X was outfitted with an heuristic processor so that it could operate without the need to be tethered to a remote controlled systems allowing it a measure of autonomy not seen before. The droid proved too difficult to control in groups of other soldier types having been predisposed to independent thinking, the Trade Federation ultimately decided to cease production of the droid at the prototype level. Seeking to be rid of the mechanical nuisance, the Viceroy traded the soldier with the gangster Jabba the Hutt in trade for his cooperation in certain joint ventures which remain undisclosed to the present day.
Not long afterwards, B1-X decided that he had enough of the treatment given him by the vile crime lord and decided to hitch his wagon to a team opposed to the Hutt as well and now finds himself in league with House Organa and a budding rebellion force against the evil Empire.
